Welcome to the Nuruni community! These guidelines help us maintain a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered environment where believers can connect, grow, and find meaningful relationships. By using Nuruni, you agree to follow these community standards.

Our Community Values

Nuruni is built on Christian principles that guide all interactions:

1. Profile Guidelines

Profile Photos

Do:

• Use recent photos that clearly show your face
• Include photos that represent your authentic self
• Use appropriate, modest images
• Smile and show your personality positively
• Verify your identity with our selfie verification

Don't:

• Use photos of other people or celebrities
• Include inappropriate, suggestive, or immodest content
• Show excessive skin or revealing clothing
• Use heavily filtered or misleading photos
• Include photos with inappropriate gestures or symbols
• Display alcohol, drugs, or inappropriate substances

Profile Information

Be honest about:

• Your age, location, and basic information
• Your faith journey and relationship with God
• Your relationship goals and intentions
• Your lifestyle and values
• Your church involvement and denomination

Bio and Written Prompts

Share:

• Your faith story and spiritual journey
• What you're looking for in a partner
• Your interests, hobbies, and passions
• Bible verses or inspirational quotes that guide you
• Your church or ministry involvement

Avoid:

• Inappropriate language or crude humor
• Negative or judgmental statements
• Political rants or divisive content
• Personal contact information (phone, email, social media)
• Promoting other dating apps or services

• Kindness: Use encouraging and uplifting words
• Patience: Give others time to respond and understand
• Honesty: Be truthful and authentic in your conversations
• Encouragement: Build others up in their faith journey

Conversation Guidelines

Appropriate Topics:

• Faith experiences and spiritual growth
• Church activities and ministry involvement
• Hobbies, interests, and life experiences
• Relationship goals and future aspirations
• Bible study and devotional practices
• Family, career, and life values

Topics to Approach Carefully:

• Past relationships (keep it general)
• Personal struggles (share appropriately)
• Denominational differences (with respect)
• Family challenges (maintain privacy)
• Financial situations (avoid specific details)

Prohibited Communication

• Sexual Content: Explicit messages, inappropriate requests, or suggestive language
• Harassment: Persistent unwanted contact after someone has declined
• Hate Speech: Discriminatory language based on race, gender, or other characteristics
• Profanity: Inappropriate language that doesn't honor God
• Threats: Any form of intimidation or threatening behavior
• Spam: Repetitive messages or copy-paste content
• Solicitation: Requesting money, gifts, or personal favors

3. Dating and Relationship Guidelines

Biblical Dating Principles

Nuruni supports relationships that honor God:

• Purity: Maintain physical and emotional purity
• Intentionality: Date with purpose and clear intentions
• Accountability: Involve trusted friends and mentors
• Prayer: Seek God's guidance in relationships
• Commitment: Value marriage as God's design

Meeting in Person

Safety First:

• Meet in public places for initial dates
• Inform trusted friends about your plans
• Consider double dates or group activities
• Meet at the location rather than sharing addresses
• Trust your instincts about safety

Christ-Centered Dating:

• Pray together and seek God's will
• Maintain appropriate physical boundaries
• Include Christian community in your relationship
• Study the Bible together
• Serve others as a couple

Handling Rejection

If someone isn't interested:

• Accept their decision gracefully
• Don't pressure or persist after a "no"
• Show Christ-like maturity and respect
• Trust that God has someone perfect for you
• Learn and grow from the experience

When declining someone:

• Be kind but clear in your communication
• Don't lead someone on if you're not interested
• Use the "I'm not feeling a connection" approach
• Pray for them and their future relationships
• Block if they don't respect your decision

4. Safety and Security

Protecting Your Information

Never share:

• Full name, address, or specific location details
• Phone number, email, or social media handles (until you're comfortable)
• Financial information or personal identification numbers
• Work address or specific workplace details
• Family members' information

Red Flags to Watch For

Be cautious if someone:

• Asks for money, gifts, or financial assistance
• Refuses video calls or phone conversations
• Has very few photos or inconsistent information
• Pushes for personal information too quickly
• Uses overly flattering language right away
• Claims to be traveling or unable to meet
• Asks you to move conversations off the platform quickly

Reporting and Blocking

Report immediately if someone:

• Sends inappropriate or offensive content
• Harasses you or makes you uncomfortable
• Appears to be using fake photos or information
• Requests money or tries to scam you
• Threatens or intimidates you
• Violates any community guidelines

5. Faith and Denominational Respect

Unity in Diversity

Nuruni welcomes Christians from all denominations. We encourage:

• Unity: Focus on shared faith in Jesus Christ
• Respect: Honor different worship styles and traditions
• Learning: Be open to understanding other perspectives
• Love: Put love above doctrinal differences
• Humility: Recognize we're all learning and growing

Discussing Differences

When discussing denominational differences:

• Approach with genuine curiosity, not judgment
• Share your beliefs without attacking others
• Find common ground in your love for Christ
• Agree to disagree on non-essential matters
• Pray together despite differences

What We Don't Tolerate

• Attacking other denominations or churches
• Claiming your denomination is the "only true" faith
• Using Scripture to condemn other believers
• Spreading false information about other Christian groups
• Creating division within the Christian community

6. Content and Sharing Guidelines

Appropriate Content

Share content that:

• Encourages and uplifts others in their faith
• Reflects Christian values and principles
• Shows your authentic personality and interests
• Demonstrates your relationship with God
• Inspires others in their spiritual journey

Prohibited Content

• Sexual Content: Inappropriate, suggestive, or explicit material
• Violence: Graphic, threatening, or violent content
• Hate Speech: Content targeting individuals or groups
• Illegal Activity: Content promoting illegal behavior
• Harassment: Content intended to harm or intimidate
• Spam: Repetitive or promotional content
• Misinformation: False or misleading information

7. Enforcement and Consequences

Our Approach

We handle violations with grace while maintaining safety:

• Education: First-time minor violations may result in guidance
• Warning: Formal notice for policy violations
• Temporary Restriction: Limited access for repeated violations
• Account Suspension: Temporary removal for serious violations
• Permanent Ban: Complete removal for severe or repeated violations

Serious Violations

Immediate account suspension or ban for:

• Sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior
• Threats, intimidation, or violence
• Hate speech or discriminatory behavior
• Fraud, scams, or identity theft
• Repeated violations after warnings
• Criminal activity or illegal behavior

Appeals Process

If you believe your account was restricted unfairly:

• Email appeals@nuruni.com with your case
• Provide relevant information and context
• Our team will review within 5-7 business days
• Decisions are final after the appeals process

8. Reporting Violations

How to Report

In-App Reporting:

• Use the report button on profiles or messages
• Select the appropriate violation category
• Provide additional context if needed
• Block the user if you feel unsafe

Email Reporting:

• Send detailed reports to safety@nuruni.com
• Include screenshots if possible
• Provide user information and violation details

What Happens After Reporting

• Our safety team reviews all reports within 24 hours
• We investigate and take appropriate action
• We may contact you for additional information
• We maintain confidentiality throughout the process
• Serious violations are escalated immediately

9. Supporting Each Other

Being a Good Community Member

Help others by:

• Encouraging those who are new to dating
• Sharing positive experiences and testimonies
• Praying for other community members
• Reporting inappropriate behavior when you see it
• Being patient with those learning to navigate online dating

Supporting Those Who Are Struggling

If someone shares difficulties:

• Listen with compassion and empathy
• Offer to pray for them
• Encourage them to seek pastoral counseling if needed
• Share appropriate resources or Bible verses
• Avoid giving advice beyond your expertise

10. Updates and Community Input
